The average monthly employment cost amounted to 3,986 PLN in 2008 and to 4,178 PLN in 2009. Despite the dynamic growth of wages Polish employees are still amongst the least expensive in Europe.

Only Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Bulgaria have a cheaper work force. Even in Czech Republic, Estonia and Hungary employees demand more, and much more for instance in Slovenia (40%), Luxemburg, Denmark or Sweden, where earnings are four times  higher than in Poland.
